Predicted line-up for LaLiga 2024/25 matchday 19

With the Supercopa taking place in Saudi Arabia, there are only eight games this weekend in the Spanish league. Real Sociedad’s clash on Monday night with Villarreal is probably the best option, while Atletico Madrid will come out on top if they beat Osasuna. Here are our predicted LaLiga line-ups for matchday 19.

21:00 – Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo

Rayo have injury concerns over goalkeeper Augusto Batalla which will see Dani Cardenas start in goal on Friday night. Winger Alvaro Garcia is also a doubt, so Adri Embarba and Jorge de Frutos look set to operate on either flank, with the latter having just scored twice in the Copa del Rey. Oscar Valentin and Alfonso Espino are also pushing for a recall after they were left on the bench at Betis last time out in LaLiga.

Estimated Rayo Vallecano line-up: Cardenas – Chavarria, Mumin, Lejeune, Ratiu – Valentin, U. Lopez – Embarba, Isi Palazon, De Frutos – Nteka (4-2-3-1)

Celta impressed with a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in their last league game, but there will be at least one change here with Javi Rodriguez suspended. In attack, Iago Aspas also suffered an injury which kept him out for about a month. As a result, Pablo Duran and Alfon look the most likely candidates to support Borja Iglesias, with both players scoring twice in recent weeks, although Claudio Giraldez tends to chop and change his forwards from game to game.

Estimated Celta Vigo line-up: Guaita – Alonso, Starfelt, Manquillo – H. Alvarez, Beltran, Ilaix, Mingueza – Duran, Alfon – Iglesias (3-4-2-1)

LaLiga Predictions

Saturday 11 January 2025

14:00 – Alaves vs Girona

Alaves have drawn all their matches since appointing Chacho Coudet as their new boss last month. They put in a good performance at Mestalla in their last league game, but there is still a possibility of change here. There will be a change in goal, with Antonio Sivera’s injury giving Jesus Owono a chance to play. Nahuel Tenaglia could also return to play at right-back, while Santiago Mouriño could also play in defense if he recovers from his injury.

Estimated Alaves line-up: Owono – M. Sanchez, Diarra, Abqar, Tenaglia – Blanco, Jordan – Martin, Guridi, Vicente – Kike Garcia (4-2-3-1)

There was a dominant performance from Girona last time out, as they cruised to a 3-0 win over struggling Real Valladolid. Michel could be forced to make at least one change here, with Yaser Asprilla worried about injury. Arnaut Danjuma and Viktor Tsygankov are options to replace him, or the visiting boss could choose to bring in an additional midfielder for this match, with Yangel Herrera and Oriol Romeu both options.

Estimated Girona line-up: Gazzaniga – Blind, D. Lopez, Krejci – M. Gutierrez, Van de Beek, Ivan Martin, A. Martinez – Danjuma, Gil – Abel Ruiz (3-4-2-1)

16:15 – Real Valladolid vs Real Betis

This is two defeats in two games so far for new Real Valladolid boss Diego Cocca, and two very poor performances including a 3-2 Copa del Rey exit against minnows Ourense. Change is certainly possible here. In attack, much will depend on whether Raul Moro and Mamadou Sylla can shake off injury to play any role.

Estimated Real Valladolid line-up: Hein – Torres, Comet, J. Sanchez – Rosa, K. Perez, Juric, L. Perez – I. Sanchez, Anuar – Marcos Andre (3-4-2-1)

The biggest challenge for Manuel Pellegrini in the second half of the season will be to find a way to return the in-form Isco and Giovani Lo Celso to the same team. Both started for Huesca in the Copa del Rey last time out, with Lo Celso moving to the right wing and we could see something similar here. Betis still have injury doubts over Chimy Avila and Marc Roca ahead of this match, while Assane Diao has completed a transfer to Como. Rui Silva also looks set to leave the club to join Sporting, so Fran Vieites or Adrian may start in goal.

Estimated Real Betis line-up: Vieites – Perraud, Bartra, Llorente, Sabaly – Altimira, Cardoso – Abde Ez, Isco, Lo Celso – Roque (4-2-3-1)

18:30 – Espanyol vs Leganes

Espanyol are almost at full strength for this match, with Jose Gragera the only player absent due to injury. Manolo have a relatively stable back four at the moment, but other places could still be up for grabs. 22-year-old Antoniu Roca is in contention to start again on the wing, while Walid Cheddira, Irvin Cardona and Alejo Veliz appear to be vying for a place in attack.

Estimated Espanyol line-up: J. Garcia – Olivan, Cabrera, Kumbulla, El Hilali – Carreras, Kral, Lozano, Roca – Puado, Cardona (4-4-2)

There are two significant suspensions for the visitors, with Jorge Saenz and Oscar Rodriguez ruled out for this match. Borja Jimenez could respond by bringing Renato Tapia into defense and defending with five defenders. Alternatively, he could switch to a 4-3-3 formation which would likely provide an early opportunity for top scorer Juan Cruz.

Estimated Leganes line-up: Dmitrovic – J. Hernandez, Nastasic, Tapia, Sergio, Altimira – Cisse, Neyou, Brasanac – De la Fuente, Munir (5-3-2)

21:00 – Sevilla vs Valencia

It is five wins from nine home league games this season for Sevilla, with Dodi Lukebakio’s eight goals the main reason they currently have a significant lead on the relegation places. Garcia Pimienta performed strongly in the Copa del Rey last weekend, but a 4-1 defeat at second division Almeria showed that there are places up for grabs here. Orjan Nyland scored again in that match, but it is unclear whether he will also beat Alvaro Fernandez here. Lukebakio and Isaac Romero must continue to attack, while the battle is fierce between Peque and Stanis Idumbo for the left wing role.

Estimated Sevilla line-up: A. Fernandez – Pedrosa, Gudelj, Bade, Carmona – Saul, Lokonga, Juanlu – Peque, Romero, Lukebachio (4-3-3)

This was Valencia’s third match under new boss Carlos Corberan. They lost to Real Madrid in their opening league game under the former West Brom boss, but bounced back with a 2-0 win at Eldense in the Copa del Rey. Corberan used a strong eleven in that match and we may not see too many changes here. Much will depend on whether Giorgi Mamardashvili and Jose Luis Gaya are deemed fit enough to start, and Jose Luis Gaya seems more likely to be involved at this point. Luis Rioja could also return to the lineup, while new signing Umar Sadiq is a new option up front after joining from Real Sociedad.

Estimated Valencia line-up: Dimitrievski – Gaya, Tarrega, Mosquera, Foulquier – Pepelu, Guillamon – Rioja, Guerra, D. Lopez – Duro (4-2-3-1)

Predicted line-up for La Liga - Sorare

Sunday 12 January 2025

14:00 – Las Palmas vs Getafe

Las Palmas have been a resurgent force under Diego Martinez, but they suffered a setback with a heavy 4-0 defeat at second tier Elche in the Copa del Rey last weekend. A number of regular starters did play in the game, but it was not a full strength eleven. Martinez is still missing Viti Rozada this weekend, while he also has doubts about Jose Campaña and Dario Essugo which significantly limits his options in midfield. Winger Alberto Moleiro should return, having not featured in the last league game.

Estimated Las Palmas line-up: Cillessen – Marmol, McKenna, Herzog, A. Suarez – Loiodice, J. Muñoz – Moleiro, Kirian, Sandro – Fabio Silva (4-2-3-1)

Getafe are missing the suspended Diego Rico here, while Allan Nyom is a doubt, so we may see at least two changes from their last eleven league games. Pepe Bordalas could opt for a similar line-up to the team that won the Copa del Rey at Granada last Friday, although David Soria will certainly return in goal, while Juan Iglesias could switch to left-back to replace Rico.

Estimated Getafe line-up: Soria – Iglesias, Alderete, Berrocal, Djene – Milla, Arambarri – Coba, Uche, Sola – A. Rodriguez (4-2-3-1)

16:15 – Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna

After 13 consecutive wins in all competitions, continuity will likely be the key for Diego Simeone again here. Jose Maria Gimenez is his only doubt for selection and that may give Robin Le Normand the chance to finally make his first league start since the injury he suffered in the Madrid derby in September.

Estimated Atletico Madrid line-up: Oblak – Galan, Lenglet, Le Normand, Llorente – Lino, Barrios, De Paul, Simeone – Griezmann, Alvarez (4-4-2)

Despite the rest, Osasuna have yet to manage to get Bryan Zaragoza fit, and the winger is unlikely to see much action before February. If not, Vicente Moreno should have a full squad to choose from. Alejandro Catena is available again after suspension and should return at centre-back.

Estimated Osasuna line-up: Herrera – Cruz, Boyomo, Catena, Areso – Torro, Moncayola – Bretones, Oroz, R. Garcia – Budimir (4-2-3-1)

21:00 – Real Sociedad vs Villarreal

There will be no Igor Zubeldia for La Real on Monday due to suspension, so Nayef Aguerd should partner Jon Pacheco in the heart of defence. Take Kubo is likely to be recalled after only being on the bench for the defeat at Vigo before Christmas. Martin Zubimendi is also expected to be fit enough to start the match after suffering a broken rib. The midfielder continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, but is expected to stay at Donostia until at least the summer.

Estimated Real Sociedad line-up: Remiro – Aihen, Aguerd, Pacheco, Aramburu – B. Mendez, Zubimendi, Sucic – S. Gomez, Oyarzabal, Kubo (4-3-3)

Diego Conde is still struggling with an injury which will likely mean Luiz Junior continues in goal for the Yellow Submarine at the Reale Arena. Yeremi Pino’s suspension also leaves Marcelino short of options on the right side with Ilias Akhomach out for the long term. He will probably switch to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation, with Gerard Moreno on the right wing. Ayoze Perez is still an injury doubt, so Thierno Barry should certainly lead the line following his hat-trick last time out at Leganes.

Estimated Villarreal line-up: Juniors – Cardona, Costa, Albiol, Femenia – Comesaña, Parejo, Gueye – Baena, Barry, G. Moreno (4-3-3)
