While Robert Lewandowski currently leads Pichichi with 15 goals, a number of other players in Spain’s top flight average more shots per game than the Barcelona forward. Shot statistics in LaLiga give an idea of which players are experimenting clinically and which are more wasteful.
Whether you’re planning a change to your fantasy football line-up, or looking for the best prize of the day, data from LaLiga so far this season highlights which forwards are most likely to get shots off and which players are regularly hitting the target.
Which LaLiga player has fired the most shots?
Player | Shots/90 min | Total shots in LaLiga 24/25 (excluding penalties) |
Kylian Mbappe | 4.79 | 59 |
Lamin Yamal | 3.79 | 43 |
Alexander Sorloth | 3.78 | 29 |
Nicolas Pepe | 3.50 | 22 |
Ayoze Perez | 3.48 | 20 |
Kylian Mbappe is the player who has fired the most shots so far this season in LaLiga. With 59 attempts (not including penalties), he is far ahead of his closest rival, Robert Lewandowski with 48 attempts. However, Mbappe’s return with just eight goals was certainly disappointing when compared to the Poland international’s far superior shooting rate.
Lamine Yamal ranks second of all players to have logged at least 500 minutes in LaLiga 2024/25, with an average of 3.79 shots per 90. The Barca winger has shown a willingness to shoot from distance and he has scored five goals.
Three players who got less playing time rounded out the top five. Alexander Sorloth was one of Atleti’s big summer signings and he became the sixth player to take the most shots in LaLiga 2023/24 with 78 for Villarreal. He scored 23 goals in between and although he was less prolific for his new club, he still got plenty of chances.
Sorloth’s cash has largely been used to fund new signings during Ceramica’s busy summer, with the likes of Nicolas Pepe and Ayoze Perez arriving as new attacking options. Both players rank in the top five with average shots of 3.50 and 3.48 per game, respectively.
Which LaLiga player has the most shots on target?
Player | Shots on target/90 minutes | Total shots on target in LaLiga 24/25 (excluding penalties) |
Kylian Mbappe | 2.11 | 26 |
Robert Lewandowski | 1.80 | 25 |
Victor Roque | 1.67 | 14 |
Nicolas Pepe | 1.59 | 10 |
Alexander Sorloth | 1.57 | 12 |
Mbappe is still ranked first in the ranking of players who have recorded at least 500 minutes in LaLiga in terms of shots on target per 90 minutes. His total of 26 goals is also the highest, but only one goal ahead of Lewandowski.
Those are two giants of the modern game, and although Lewandowski has also had his share of criticism since moving to Barcelona in 2022, he has really enjoyed this month and seems to be enjoying life back under the guidance of his old players. Bayern boss Hansi Flick.
Vitor Roque ranks third with an average of 1.67 shots on target per 90 minutes. The 19-year-old was Lewandowski’s back-up at Barcelona last season, but has enjoyed more regular playing time since being loaned to Real Betis. His total of 14 shots on target in LaLiga 2024/25 (excluding penalties), is the sixth highest behind Mbappe, Lewandowski, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Dodi Lukebakio.
These players recorded far more playing minutes and again Pepe and Sorloth rounded out the top five in terms of shots on target statistics per match in LaLiga.
Which player has the best conversion rate?
Player | Goals/Shots | Target (minimum 3) | Shots on target ratio |
Pablo Torre | 100% | 3 | 100% |
Alex Muñoz | 43% | 3 | 71% |
Ayoze Perez | 35% | 7 | 35% |
Sacred Forest | 33% | 7 | 44% |
Dani Rodriguez | 30% | 3 | 50% |
Las Palmas left-back Alex Muñoz is the player who has the best shot rate in LaLiga of any player who has played more than 500 minutes this season with a shot conversion rate of 43%. With three goals in 12 appearances so far, he has equaled the best league record of his career.
While Muñoz’s numbers will likely return to more modest numbers as time goes on, Ayoze Perez and Oihan Sancet’s shot conversion rates are impressive, with both players having scored seven goals from 20 shots or less in LaLiga so far this season.
Ayoze even had a few injuries to overcome that limited him to just five league starts, but he scored a goal at an incredible rate every 74 minutes for Villarreal. Even Lewandowski can’t match him.
The same thing happened to Dani Olmo, a summer recruit from RB Leipzig, who has only started four games for Barcelona so far, but he has scored five goals in 404 minutes played in LaLiga, scoring 28% of his shots.
Mallorca’s Dani Rodriguez also boasts a very healthy shot conversion rate of 30%. Nobody can match Barca youngster Pablo Torre in terms of efficiency, with the 21-year-old having managed just three shots so far this season, but scoring his third goal.
